The Town of Willards, Maryland
Comprehensive Plan Update
The Town of Willards adopted the The Town of Willards
2007 Comprehensive Plan in 2008. As a result of recently adopted State
legislation (House 1141) that amended Maryland's Planning and Zoning
enabling legislation, the Town has added a Municipal Growth Element (MGE)
and a Water Resources Element (WRE) to the Town's Comprehensive Plan.
The MGE analyzes the impacts of anticipated population and housing growth
and evaluates the Town's capacity to accommodate future population. The MGE
includes a development capacity analysis (land capacity for infill and
redevelopment within the corporate limits) and an assessment of the
potential impacts of population growth on public facilities and services. The
WRE evaluates potential water resource limitations that may affect Town
growth. Specifically the WRE addresses
drinking water and receiving
waters and land areas for stormwater
and wastewater treatment and disposal.
A public hearing on the updated draft Plan (The
Town of Willards 2009 Comprehensive Plan) is scheduled for November
2, 2009.
