PJA staff includes Peter Johnston, the Principal, and Shane Johnston our Senior Planner:
PETER L. JOHNSTON, AICP, PRINCIPAL
Peter is the principal of Peter Johnston & Associates (PJA) with over 30 years of experience in land use planning and growth management. Trained at the University of Virginia's School of Architecture, Peter has a broad and diverse background. He is certified by the American Association of Certified Planners (AICP) and is experienced in comprehensive planning, transportation planning, zoning, master planning, community design, digital mapping, public participation, environmental planning, resource management, and education. Peter is qualified as an expert witness in matters related to land use and growth management. As a highly experienced planner, he has a sound knowledge to assist clients with decision-making and the practical implementation of plans and regulations.

SHANE E. JOHNSTON, SENIOR PLANNER
Shane Johnston is the Senior Planner at Peter Johnston & Associates (PJA) with 14 years of professional experience. This includes seven years of local government experience as the Deputy and Acting Director of Planning & Zoning for Caroline County, Maryland. Shane has a Master's Degree in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), a digital mapping program used by government to locate and inventory infrastructure and resources. Shane is experienced in developing comprehensive plans, community design guides, special use plans, water, sewer, and other infrastructure reports, municipal plans, preservation and environmental plans, and regulations. Shane has a strong client oriented approach to work tasks with an emphasis on providing accurate information to guide decision- making, useful end products, and practical implementation based on his career in the public and private sectors.
