Planner On Call Services Local government is becoming more complex almost daily, from the maze of intergovernmental relations to development pressures to the increased demands and expectations of citizens. Recent State mandates such as the municipal growth and water resource elements required by House Bill 1141 have added to the complexity. Planner-on-call is a practical approach to dealing with the current growth management, planning and zoning issues facing local governments. It allows counties and municipalities to augment their staff without the long-term budget implications. It also permits jurisdictions to apply a broad range of expertise to the problems and issues. Peter Johnston & Associates, LLC (PJA) provides an array of services to local governments in the fields of land planning, growth management, community design, zoning, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). These services enhance the capabilities of communities to address development and redevelopment. PJA's planner-on-call services include review and analysis of conceptual development and redevelopment proposals; site plan and subdivision review for compliance with local development related ordinances and standards; evaluation of development for compliance with Critical Area requirements; review and evaluation of rezoning requests for consistency with the jurisdiction's Comprehensive Plan and the requirements of Article 66B; preparation of zoning and subdivision code amendments; special projects (e.g., main street revitalization studies, strategic plans, small area build-out concepts); and digital mapping and GIS services.
