Denton is at an important crossroads in its development.
Along the Eastern Shore of Maryland, many
communities face intense growth pressure, at
times, on a fairly large scale. The Denton Pattern
Book will define the collective goals
for the future character
of Denton - one that is
rooted in the unique local culture and intrinsic qualities
of the Town's built form.
The Denton Pattern Book will chronicle
the outcomes of a cooperative project that includes the Denton Town Council,
the Denton Planning Commission, the Denton Historic and Architectural Review
Committee, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Consulting Team
of Urban Design Associates and Redman/Johnston Associates, Ltd., and many
members of the Denton community. A number of public meetings are being
held throughout the development and completion of the Pattern Book. At
the first public workshop, residents were asked to evaluate the existing
strengths and weaknesses of Denton and to voice their opinions about the
most important qualities to preserve in the Town. The second workshop
presented current draft material for consideration by those in attendance. To view the Denton Pattern Book click on the link below.
